If you dropped a piece of fruit into the kitchen sink whilst you rinsed it, would you think twice about eating it? You most likely wouldn’t. However, if you consider the amount of food particles from plates left to soak being a breeding ground for illness inducing bacteria including salmonella then you would think again.

There are many places in your home and business that you wouldn’t consider to be rife with dirt, but the reality is your television control and keyboard both acquire a lot of dirt. Your television control is dropped on the floor, stuffed in between sofa cushion and coughed on. To prevent bacteria from spreading you should wipe your remote with a little bit of bleach on a regular basis.

The bathtub needs to be cleaned on a regular basis too. It is easy to underestimate the germs a bathtub acquires which includes fungi and contained staph bacteria. Be sure to disinfect your bathtub with bleach and wipe it down with a cloth. Once you have done this, dry the bathtub with a tea towel. It is a good idea to have a tea towel kept to one side specifically for this job.

It is also important to keep on top of your computer keyboard in terms of cleaning. If you eat when you are on the computer, and perhaps continue to work without washing your hands, then germs can spread. Make sure you wash your hands before and after using your computer, especially if your computer is shared with others. It is best to avoid eating at your desk, but if you have to then make sure you don’t drop crumbs into the keyboard. To clean your keyboard, shake out the crumbs and wipe it with a cloth, but don’t make the cloth too wet and remember to wipe the mouse.
